I lost a friend today. Someone I never met in person, but sent years talking to on the phone, about everything from homes, to husbands, children, grandchildren, pets, and quilts. You see she pieced quilts and trusted me to quilt them. She adored bright and happy colors, and it showed in her quilts. Like her quilts she was always bright and happy, even though she suffered horribly with arthritis, which effected her hands badly. She was an inspiration to me, always making me see the bright side of things. When she got a new sewing machine she called and was so excited, like a kid at Christmas! then dismayed because she didn't think she would ever master the "dang thing". but she did, and made many a beautiful quilt with it. The one thing she never really got to work the way she wanted was a computer! Lord the problems she had, we shared plenty of laughs over her problems. When she moved, by her choice, from her large house to an apt. complex for seniors, she was delighted because she was living on the 7th floor and couldn't wait for the first snow fall, so she could watch it fall and land on everything below her. I told her it would be like living in a snow globe. She passed peacefully in her sleep, and while I will miss her, I'm so glad she didn't have to suffer like to many do. So my friend, I say good bye, and know in my heart that you are busy up in heaven piecing quilts for all the angels.
